چکیده

This study was carried out to evaluate the Brine shrimp lethality (cytotoxicity), antiglycation, phytotoxicity, antiplatelet, antifungal, and antibacterial activities of Ajuga bracteosa. The n-hexane fraction of Ajuga bracteosa was investigated for various biological activities in vitro. Hexane extract showed promising phytotoxicity (100%) at the highest dose only. Interestingly, n-hexane fraction showed 100% antiplatelet activity against AA (48 μg/mL) and PAF (15 μg/mL) but it was inactive against pathogenic bacteria and fungi used in the antibacterial and antifungal assays. The antioxidant potential of n-hexane fraction was evaluated by its potential to scaveng superoxide anion radical, DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1picrylhydrazyl) free radical, and the lipid peroxidation assays. The results showed that n-hexane fraction exhibit moderate activity against lipid peroxidation, DPPH, and superoxide assays. In conclusion, the n-hexane fraction of A. Bracteosa possess a strong biological role, which suggest the presence of bioactive metabolites.

Induction of Mitotic Delay in Pharyngeal and Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells Using an Aqueous Extract of Ajuga bracteosa

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a common cancer in Southeast Asia, for which radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy are the primary treatment methods. Many herbs are known to have potential uses in chemotherapy; however, the mechanisms underlying the observed antitumor activity of Ajuga bracteosa (AB) against NPC remain unclear. We explored the antitumor effects of AB, which was shown specifically ...

Per os efficacy of Ajuga extracts against sucking insects.

We studied the efficacy of water-soluble extracts from four Ajuga spp on the post-embryonic development of two exopterygota (sucking insect) species. To allow comparison between different Ajuga species, results are expressed in terms of quantity of plant extracted per litre of test solution. Crude methanolic extracts of all Ajuga plants tested, with the exception of A genevensis, showed conside...
